Jack Nicholson’s work on screen pretty much speaks for itself, so a surprisingly good way to introduce the legendary actor is to just list off some of his most iconic movies, including The Shining, Batman (1989), and The Departed. And, of those movies, none of them resulted in Oscar nominations or wins for Nicholson (though The Departed was successful in other categories, including getting a Best Picture win). But that in no way indicates a snubbing on the part of the Academy Awards, since Nicholson is one of the most awarded actors in the ceremony’s history. He won a total of three Oscars for acting, and received acting nominations on nine other occasions, all spread out across several decades.
