Why Gareth Bale will not feature for Wales against Belgium this evening
Wales take on Belgium
Wales take on Belgium in the final game of their World Cup 2022 qualifiers, knowing that there is a lot on the line for the home nation.
Belgium have already topped the group, so far unbeaten having won 6 and drawn one of their seven encounters, while Wales currently occupy second spot. The Welsh have already qualified for next year’s tournament by virtue of their UEFA Nations League ranking (as per BBC Sport), but need to secure second spot in order to ensure that they receive a home tie for the one-legged Semi-Final.

With the gap to third place Czech Republic currently three points, a draw would be enough for Wales to go through irrespective of any result that the Czech’s, playing fourth-placed Estonia, can produce.
However, Wales will have to do it without their talisman.
Bale left out entirely
Bale played 45 minutes for Wales against Belarus, before being substituted, allegedly as planned, due to his lack of football in the two months before the game.

However, this has since come under further scrutiny, as it has emerged that Bale will play no part in the game this evening, having not been named in the match-day squad that the nation are required to submit to UEFA.
As per Spanish sources, Bale is being kept out as a result of calf issues, that require further examination.

The Real Madrid forward has not featured for Los Blancos for two months, returning specifically to play for Wales, after a hamstring injury that he picked up in the international break in September.
While Wales will certainly miss him this evening, he could be in more hot water with the powers that be in Madrid should he continue to pick up injuries while away,
