The bizarre new position Jadon Sancho is training in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Jadon Sancho’s tricky six months

It has been an up and down six months for young English talent Jadon Sancho.

Called up to the squad for Euro 2020, he saw Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka preferred to him at the tournament, with Sancho only managing just 96 minutes in total, and missing a crucial penalty.

Of course, much of this was due to the fact that he was in the middle of a mega-money move to Manchester United, a club that had been courting him for well over a year, and finally agreed a 73 million pound deal with Borussia Dortmund during the competition.

In Manchester too, however, he has struggled to make an impact. To date, he has not managed to provide a goal or an assist in 12 outings for the Red Devils, and has been unable to nail down a place in the starting XI, meaning he is often turned to in the dying stages of games.

This has not helped him get up to speed. However, there could be a change of fortunes on the cards.

Sancho training in a new position

As per Laurie Whitwell, of The Athletic, there could yet be change, with Sancho training in a new position in order to fit into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans. The position in question?

Right wing-back.

Perhaps unconventional, it seems as though Sancho is doing everything he can in order to nail down a starting spot, with the report saying:

“Coaches have tried Sancho as a right wing-back in sessions in recent weeks and, with Wan-Bissaka’s attacking ability in question, Solskjaer may yet turn to the tactic against teams expected to sit in.

Would he be effective there?
