Revealed: When Newcastle United expect to announce their Unai Emery coup
Unai Emery the no.
1 target for Newcastle
News has broken today that Unai Emery is set to fill the Steve Bruce shaped hole at Newcastle United, after the club parted ways with the latter last week.
As per David Ornstein of the Athletic, Emery is the current favourite of the new owners to handle the role, which would see him take over a club that is yet to win a game all season, and finds itself in the relegation zone. It is a far cry from the European glory that the Spaniard experienced with Villareal just months ago.

Villareal, Unai Emery’s current side, are set to do Champions League battle with Young Boys this evening (Tuesday), and therefore it is unlikely that any further updates on the managerial situation will occur before Wednesday at the earliest.
The Magpies head to the South Coast to take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening, and if reports are true, it could well represent Unai Emery’s first game in charge of the Tyneside club.
Should he join (and there is still an element of possibility), he would represent a massive coup for the new ownership, having won four Europa League titles previously, as well as reaching the final of the competition in his only full season at Arsenal.
Of course, he would not be expected to repeat the feats with the Magpies, but he would certainly be a safe pair of hands to propel them up the Premier League table.
