Official: Tottenham Hotspur sack Nuno Espirito Santo after Manchester United defeat
Nuno on the brink
Saturday evenings 3-0 defeat to Manchester United was difficult watching for the neutral as much as it was for the Tottenham fans.
With no passion, drive or desire to win the game seemingly, Tottenham and Nuno Espirito Santo slumped to yet another defeat, their fifth in seven games, and left the Portuguese manager’s job on the line.
As per Matt Law of the Telegraph, the result, and fan backlash inside the stadium, had left Nuno “on the brink of sack” from the job at Tottenham, where “expectation remains a change is likely to be made.”
My information is that Nuno remains on the brink of the sack tonight after a day of talks regarding his Tottenham future. Expectation remains a change is likely to be made #thfc https://t.co/u1aJc8dXxf

Spurs and Nuno part ways
Now, as per Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Tottenham have indeed made the decision to part ways with their head coach after just 10 Premier League games in charge of the Lilywhites.

Mokbel reports that:
“Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked by Tottenham after just four months in charge”, with Saturday’s defeat proving a “fatal blow” to the Portuguese’s chances.”
It has since been confirmed by the club.
Club announcement.

In a statement, they said:
“The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties.
Fabio Paratici, Managing Director, Football, said: “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.
Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
Nuno Espirito Santo, of course, was a late Tottenham choice following failure in the summer to attract the likes of Erik Ten Hag and others to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, leaving Espirito Santo as the last resort.
As such, it is perhaps a little strange to see them part ways with him, with the managerial landscape not having changed too much in the four months since the last managerial chase. Will they be able to find a suitable replacement.
