Father of Gabriel Martinelli confirms Arsenal forward has received proposals from Europe

Martinelli struggling for minutes

Gabriel Martinelli joined Arsenal in July of 2019.

The Gunners are understood to have paid just over £6m for the Brazilian.

Martinelli was one of Arsenal’s bright sparks during his debut 2019/20 season.

The 20-year-old scored 10 and assisted four across 26 outings for the Gunners, including this stunning individual effort vs Chelsea in the Premier League:

However, the Brazilian’s campaign was brought to a premature end when he suffered a knee injury, which also saw him miss the start of 2020/21.

Martinelli would eventually return to action midway through last season, but is yet to rediscover the form he found during the early day’s of his Arsenal career.

It is the 2021/22 campaign, though, which looks to be Martinelli’s biggest concern as Arsenal now have no European football to hand their fringe stars more minutes in.

Martinelli receives proposals

The Brazilian would start in Arsenal’s opening two league games of the season, largely due to issues facing Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, since that pair have returned, Martinelli has been afforded just 11 minutes of league action across three outings.

Yes, he has been handed two starts in the League Cup, but 11 minutes of league action since August is really not enough for a young star to develop.

Such a lack of minutes may suggest that the Gunners are not that keen on Martinelli and could be open to selling him.

However, Joao Martinelli, father of the Arsenal star, recently claimed that though Martinelli has received some proposals from Europe since his return from injury, Arsenal have already warned they will not sell:

“There is no chance of him going to Corinthians or any other Brazilian club!’

“Since he came back from an injury, he’s been playing a lot less than he would have liked. They even painted some proposals from Europe, but Arsenal has already warned that it will not release it.”
