‘Fantastic’: Liverpool star singled out for special praise as Wales keep World Cup hopes alive

The Welsh national team made short work of Belarus tonight, with one member of the nation’s backline in particular having since been singled out for special praise.

Ramsey leads rout

Robert Page’s men returned to action a short time ago.

In their latest World Cup qualifier, the Dragons welcomed minnows Belarus to Cardiff, in the knowledge that a victory would guide them within touching distance of securing a playoff spot, ahead of a crunch meeting with Belgium in midweek.

And, when all was said and done on Saturday, bag their latest 3-point haul is precisely what Wales managed.

A dominant display ultimately culminated in Page and co. emerging on the right side of a comprehensive 5-1 scoreline.

Juventus outcast Aaron Ramsey proved the star of the show, bagging a brace, with all of Neco Williams, Ben Davies and Connor Roberts having managed to find the target, too.

‘What a performance’

As outlined above, however, in the aftermath of the full-time whistle at the Cardiff City Stadium, it is not the name of brace-hitter Ramsey which has since been singled out for perhaps the most praise of any member of Wales’ squad.

Instead, this honour has been reserved for the aforementioned Neco Williams.

Liverpool stopper Williams was handed his latest start on the left of the hosts’ backline versus Belarus, and went on to enjoy a fantastic 90 minutes, surging up and down the flank in relentless fashion.

The 20-year-old even managed to chip in with his nation’s 2nd goal of the night, with Williams’ stellar efforts having since given rise to an altogether deserved string of praise across social media:
