Arsenal’s new transfer policy ahead of January window revealed
A recent report suggests that Arsenal are set to change up their transfer policy for transfer windows going forward.
Arsenal’s 2021 summer window
Arsenal had a fairly active summer transfer window in which they brought in six senior players.
All of these players were also under the age of 24 at the time of signing and look to represent some smart business from the north Londoners.
In Aaron Ramsdale they already appear to have found their new no.1 keeper for the next several years.
Martin Odegaard is of course an extremely creative player who still has the potential to develop further.
Albert Sambi Lokonga also looks set for a bright future at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield, though he is still perhaps a year or so away from being ready to start week in week out.
Elsewhere, though a somewhat underappreciated signing at the time, Takehiro Tomiyasu has already cemented himself as Arsenal’s new no.1 right-back and his starring displays
Finally, Ben White is forming a great partnership with Gabriel at centre-back, whilst Nuno Tavares is adequate left-back cover.
Arsenal set for transfer policy change
However, though Arsenal spent big and signed a lot of players this past summer, Arsenal fans probably should not except that to be the case in windows going forward.
Instead, it looks as though the Gunners will instead be eyeing up a much smaller batch of players in upcoming windows.
As per football.london citing The Athletic:
“The club’s intention going forward is to pursue one or two major signings per window, honing the group around the existing core.”
Given Arsenal just brought in six fairly young players and have a number of young stars on their books already, targeting one or two top, ready-made stars in each window to further strengthen their team does seem like a smart choice going forward.
