Solskjaer outlines what Man United want from Jadon Sancho

Sancho makes Man United switch

The news all Manchester United fans were waiting for was finally forthcoming on Friday, July 23rd, with Jadon Sancho officially confirmed as a Manchester United star:

Sancho is reported to have set The Red Devils back £73m.

On paper, said fee did not seem too bad, given that Man United were crying out for a natural right-winger and due to Sancho’s impressive stint in Germany with Dortmund.

However, so far, we have seen very little from Jadon Sancho in a Manchester United shirt.

Sancho’s Man United stint

Sancho has since gone on to feature eight times across all competitions for Man United.

However, it has been far from plain sailing for the winger at Old Trafford so far. Sancho is yet to register a single goal or assist as a Man United player – a far cry from the type of form we saw from him across his entire Borussia Dortmund stint.

Sancho has also played just 90 minutes for the Red Devils once at the time of writing, vs West Ham in the League Cup.

However, Sancho’s last outing, vs Villarreal earlier this week, did show signs of improvement from the 21-year-old.

And now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has outlined what Man United want from their big-money summer signing, with the Norwegian looking for Sancho to be direct, positive and go past players numerous times:

“Jadon was exceptional on Wednesday against Villarreal. He was electric and the crowd loved him. I think he felt that connection with the crowd.

“That’s what we want from him – to be direct, positive, go past players numerous times. “Yeah, he’s not scored yet, but that night I thought ‘yeah, that’s Jadon and we’re going to see loads of that’.

“Gareth also said it’s important Jadon knows they [England] believe in him. They’ve invested time in him.

“He will be a top player and performances are going to come. We’ve got players here he can learn from and help him adapt. You’ve got Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani to learn from, in terms of their professionalism and how they conduct themselves.

“He also has his team mates – Marcus [Rashford], Jesse [Lingard] and Luke [Shaw] from the national team, so he’ll come good, we’ve got absolutely no worries.”
