Marcelo Bielsa provides injury update on key Leeds quartet ahead of Wolves clash
Leeds United struggle to get going
It has proved a tough second season for Leeds United, who have been injury-ravaged for much of it. Nevetheless, they have only picked up one win from their opening eight games, and sit just three points above the relegation zone heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
There is clearly still talent in the side, but they are lacking the swashbuckling fearlessness that announced their arrival on the top-flight stage last campaign, and will be hoping to rekindle some of it this weekend as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road, a side that have won 4 of their last 5 games after a torrid start.
The latest on key quartet
Ahead of the clash, Leeds United’s manager Marcelo Bielsa has issued an injury update across his squad. Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford, both key players last campaign, remain out of the clash with Bruno Lage’s side, and Bielsa suggested that they will also miss the tie with Norwich next weekend, representing a massive blow to the Yorkshire outfit.
Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford have been ruled out of the next two games. Raphinha is back and acclimatised. Meanwhile, Robin Koch still has at least one month to go following surgery in the United States.

To make matters worse, influential midfielder Kalvin Phillips is also expected to play no part in the encounter this weekend, with the England man having pulled out of international duty and thus not having played for three weeks.
Bielsa revealed that:
“To think of him for Saturday would be too soon.”
Kalvin Phillips is “healthy” but after missing three weeks, Marcelo Bielsa feels the midfielder needs more training. “At this stage he has done sessions for recovery and physical prep and progressive work with the ball. To think of him for Saturday would be too soon.” #LUFC

Finally, Junior Firpo is expected to be miss the clash with Bruno Lage’s side, with Bielsa revealing that he is targetting the Yorkshire side’s clash with bottom of the table Norwich next weekend.
Firpo also missed out last weekend due to a muscle problem, and Marcelo Bielsa believes he could be back for Norwich (GW10).
