Liverpool ‘best placed’ to sign Rennes forward Jeremy Doku

Liverpool are interested in signing Rennes forward Jeremy Doku, according to reports from Beglium.

Who is Jeremy Doku?

Jeremy Doku is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Stade Rennais.

He would join the French outfit in October of 2020 from Belgian side, RSC Anderlecht.

Anderlecht have produced some top talent over the years, including the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans.

And at 19, Doku could well become yet another success story of the Anderlecht academy.

Doku would feature 30 times in Ligue 1 last term, scoring two and assisting four to help Stade Rennais to a 6th-place finish – missing out on European football by two points.

Doku has since featured on four occasions this term as well but is yet to provide a goal contribution.

Liverpool best placed for Doku

Now, Doku, who is contracted to Rennes until 2025, appears to be attracting the interest of Premier League side, Liverpool.

Doku is a natural right-winger, but he is fairly versatile, able to play on the opposite flank and even through the middle.

This would likely make him a useful asset for Liverpool and also ensure he is able to get more game time whilst competing with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

And looking even further forward than that, Doku could, given his age and potential, possibly go on to replace one of Liverpool’s current top two wingers in the coming years.

And, according to Belgian journalist Alexandre Braeckman, Doku could leave Rennes this summer and Liverpool are said to be best placed to land the teenager:
