Lionel Messi speaks out over possibility of Barcelona return
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has this weekend opened the door to a potential return to Barcelona at some point down the line.
PSG switch
The name of Argentine international Messi of course took centre stage in the media over the latter weeks of the summer transfer window.
This came with the 34-year-old having been forced to close the legendary Barcelona chapter of his career, to instead seek out a new club.
Just hours after it was suggested that Messi was on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Camp Nou, the Blaugrana released a statement, confirming the departure of their greatest ever player:

Widespread chatter immediately followed in the media, amid mass speculation surrounding where Messi, a free agent for the first time in his career, was set to end up next.
When all was said and done, though, despite the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all being tipped as potential landing spots, it came as little surprise when the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner opted to take his talents to France, with Paris Saint-Germain:

‘Love to help…’
The early weeks of his career in Paris have since proven something of a mixed bag, with Messi having impressed in Europe to the tune of three goals in three Champions League appearances.
On the domestic front, though, the South American is yet to open his account in Ligue 1, and was hauled off at the interval in PSG’s meeting with Lille this past Friday.
In turn, speaking during an interview with Diario Sport this weekend, it should come as little surprise to hear that Messi was drawn on the possibility of one day returning to the ground at which he made his name – the Camp Nou.
And those of a Barcelona persuasion will no doubt be over the moon to hear that the club’s prodigal son appears very much open to such a prospect.
His role, however, may well be in the boardroom, rather than on the pitch…
Messi, told SPORT, on a Barça return: “Yes. I’ve always said it that I would love to be able to help the club & be useful in whatever I can. I’d love to be a technical secretary at some point. I don’t know if it’s going to be at Barcelona, or not..” More below. #FCB 🇦🇷🔵🔴
