Jurgen Klopp discusses his right-back options for Liverpool’s clash with Man City
Liverpool vs Man City
Liverpool are looking to continue their fine start to the 2021/22 season on Sunday.
The Reds’ last outing saw them smash FC Porto, who had previously been unbeaten in 18 games, 5-1 in a Champions League tie.
Before that, Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw by Brentford the weekend prior, but are also the only side in the Premier League who are yet to lose a single game this campaign.
Of course, that could very easily change this weekend when they play host to Manchester City in Sunday’s late Premier League kick-off.
Man City did lose to PSG earlier this week and were beaten by Tottenham on the opening weekend. However, their win over Chelsea recently showed Pep Guardiola and co. are still a force to be reckoned with.
Klopp on Liverpool’s right-back options for Man City
Ahead of the City game, Jurgen Klopp spoke to the press on Friday and discussed a number of topics.
Amongst those were his options at right-back for Man City, with the German naming three players, none of which are Trent Alexander-Arnold, as players who could feature:
“We have James, we have Joe, we have Neco. We could change system. There are a lot of things possible. Whoever plays there should be protected by at least two players.”
Klopp says he has “three options” to play right back v Manchester City.

Klopp also outlined what Liverpool need to do to beat Man City:
“We have to brave, front-footed, cheeky in moments, really your best version and then and only then you have a chance. So that is what we try. What we did last week or the other day was OK but we need a complex football challenge. Thank God for both teams! It’s exciting.”
