Chelsea dealt blow as defender Thiago Silva set to miss out vs Brentford
Chelsea’s 2021/22
Chelsea have had a fine start to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
Granted, they did lose to Manchester City two weekends ago. However, they would bounce back on Saturday by beating Southampton 3-1.
The Blues also have the joint-best defence in the Premier League so far this season and have scored the second-most goals.
And, with Liverpool drawing their last two matches, Chelsea have now been able to overtake the Reds atop of the Premier League and will stay there for at least the next 12 days as we are now in the international break.
Thiago Silva out vs Brentford
Chelsea’s first game back after the break will be a trip to newly-promoted Brentford on Saturday the 16th of October.
Ahead of the game, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed already that one player will be missing.
That player is Thiago Silva, who has been called up to the Brazil national side for their games this month:
“He will go and then he will play for Brazil, and then he will come back on the matchday versus Brentford. This is the life of international breaks in 2021. Like it or not, what can I do? If they call him, he needs to go.”

Brazil’s final game of the international break takes place in the early hours of Friday the 15th of October, so it is easy to see why Silva will not be featuring vs Brentford on the 16th.
