As Steve Bruce sacked, the latest manager named as contender for Newcastle revealed
Another manager has, on Wednesday, become the latest named linked with the Newcastle United job.
Bruce sacked
Newcastle’s first game following their takeover by the SAPIF ended in pretty disastrous fashion. The Magpies took an early lead in the game but then went on to be dominated and lose the tie 3-2, with a late Eric Dier own goal making the tie look much close than it actually was.
Following the game, Steve Bruce, who saw speculation over his future began to fly almost as soon as the takeover was complete, stated that he will carry on in the job until he hears otherwise:
“I’ll carry on until I hear otherwise.”

However, The Times then reported on Monday that Newcastle were set to step up their search for a new manager this week, with Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard and Unai Emery all said to be emerging as leading contenders to replace Bruce.
Newcastle then confirmed on Wednesday that Bruce had left the club:
#NUFC can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.
The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wishes him well for the future.

Graeme Jones is set to take charge of the club on an interim basis.
Latest manager linked with Newcastle job
And now, as mentioned above, we have seen yet another manager linked with Bruce’s job on Wednesday.
As per Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, former AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is a contender to take over at Newcastle. Downie’s report came before Bruce was officially sacked, but the point about Fonseca of course still stands:
Paulo Fonseca a contender to take over at Newcastle if & when Steve Bruce leaves. The former Roma boss has been high on those considered over the last few weeks after being close to joining Spurs in the sunmer #NUFC

Fonseca was close to joining Tottenham over the summer but that move did not pan out after Fabio Paratici was handed a role at Spurs
