Southampton starlet already back on Chelsea’s radar as contract clause revealed

Valentino Livramento shines for Southampton

One of the brightest sparks for Southampton this season has been teenage sensation Valentino Livramento. The wing-back swapped Chelsea for St Mary’s this summer in a 5 million pound move, and has started every single one of his sides Premier League games thus far.

While the 18-year-old is yet to register a goal or an assist for his new club, he has certainly hit the ground running, and won the hearts of Saints fans with his ability to carry the ball down the right-hand side for their team.

Buy back clause, and sell on fee revealed

Now, as per The Athletic, Chelsea’s buy back clause inserted into the deal has been revealed. The Blues parted ways with the highly-rated teen in the summer, and are already casting envious glances his way once more.

However, they will have to wait until 2023 to exercise any buy-back right that they have in the deal.

As per Dan Sheldon, the clause in the contract is set at 50 million pounds, but Chelsea will benefit from a sell on clause that they also have in the deal, which will see them only need to splash out 38 million pounds for the youngster.

Should he return, he will be just 20 years old, with two full seasons of Premier League experience under his belt. Is that worth the 33 million that Chelsea will end up paying (38 million minus the 5m initial fee Southampton paid) for his services once more?
