Insight into Arsenal’s transfer plans moving forward provided
An insight into Arsenal’s transfer plans moving forward has been provided recently.
Arsenal’s squad
After another 8th-place finish last time out, it was imperative that Arsenal had a successful summer transfer window.
And, for the most part, the Gunners would do just that.
They would bring in all of Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares – all of whom are 23 or younger, showing a clear plan on the part of the north Londoners.
Said signings would also make Arsenal the biggest net spenders of the summer in the English top-flight:

And, so far, a number of these players have already begun to improve Arsenal as a side.
Tomiyasu, White and Ramsdale, in particular, have clearly made a huge improvement to Arsenal’s backline.
Martin Odegaard, meanwhile, has continued to shine further up the pitch.
Arsenal’s transfer plans
Now though, as mentioned above, Arsenal already look to be making transfer plans for the future.
Said update comes courtesy of football.london writer Chris Wheatley, who was asked in a recent Q&A what positions Arsenal are looking to target next.
And, according to Wheatley, the Gunners are expected to target players in midfield and defence and possibly a back-up keeper once Bernd Leno leaves:
The next positions Arsenal are expected to target are midfield and defence. A back-up goalkeeper for Aaron Ramsdale once Bernd Leno leaves is likely too.
Interestingly, despite Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah being out of contract at the end of this season, there was no mention of the north Londoners eyeing a striker.
