Impressive Fikayo Tomori handed England call up amid Southgate's defensive issues
Tomori impresses for Milan
Fikayo Tomori joined AC Milan from Chelsea on an initial loan deal for the second part of the 2020-21 season, and impressed immediately.
After a string of brilliant performances, Milan opted to make the deal permanent, in a move that set the club back a rumoured 28.5 milion euros.

Such was his form, that it was somewhat surprising that he did not receive a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2020 (which took place in 2021), with Ben White and Ben Godfrey taking the spots for backup central defenders.
Tomori named in England squad
However, the 23 year old has been offered another opportunity to impress Gareth Southgate in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary after being named in the England squad released today.
He will likely be competing with Arsenal’s Ben White for the position of right centre-back in the future, and will be hoping to at least double the solitary cap that he received back in November 2019, where he played 6 minutes against Kosovo.
Ben White, on the other hand, has not received a call-up.

Tyrone Mings is likely to partner him to offer experience, although he himself has just 14 caps to his name.
Tomori is set to be called up due to the absence of Harry Maguire, while John Stones has been called up but is yet to play for Manchester City this season.
Harry Maguire was ruled out for a few weeks with a calf injury after limping out of Manchester United’s clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Arsenal star duo Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka also make the cut, although as mentioned there was surprisingly no place for new signing Ben White.
Will Tomori be able to convince Southgate that he deserves a place in England squads going forwards?
