Best captain picks for GW7
A key part of playing Fantasy Premier League is choosing your captain for every game week.
The player you select from your starting eleven as your captain will see his points total doubled from that round of fixtures. And if he is not involved in any way, your vice-captain for the week will instead have his normal points total doubled.
Said boost in points can often make or break your gameweek and see you move up or down the FPL ranks a fair bit.
So, picking the best captain each week is a decision you should give considerable thought to. And at 101, we are here to help, picking out the best three captain choices from each week.
Here are our picks for gameweek 7.
Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea (11.7)
The first player you may wish to captain this week is Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian has already had to face Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenahm, Arsenal and Aston Villa in his first five Premier League games of the season.
Despite such a difficult run, Lukaku was still able to net three goals in the process.
Now, Lukaku and Chelsea’s run of fixtures gets much, much easier – starting with a clash at home to Southampton in gameweek seven.
The Saints are yet to win a league game this term and though they have managed to scrape out four draws, have still shipped seven goals in the process.
They also have the 8th-highest xGA in the league so far in 2021/22, with the firepower of Lukaku and co. likely to prove too much for them this time around.
Michail Antonio, West Ham (8.0)
Michail Antonio has been an absolute gift for FPL players this year and is once again a great captain shout this week.
Antonio is currently the highest-scoring forward on the game at present. He also has the second-highest xG in the PL and the highest xA of anyone else in 2021/22 at the time of writing.
And whilst Brentford, West Ham’s opponents this week, have previously had a decent defensive record, their 3-3 draw with Liverpool in GW6 proved they are more than capable of shipping goals when facing the right attack, which Antonio and co. should be.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (12.7)
The final player you may wish to consider captaining this week is Cristiano Ronaldo.
United are at home to Everton this weekend and, whilst the Toffees have not been that poor defensively this term, they have still shipped seven in six.
It is also worth noting that Rafa Benitez’s side are yet to face a single ‘top six’ club in 2021/22.
Everton’s underlying defensive stats are also not that great, with the Merseysiders having lost the 4th most tackles (66) in the PL so far this term as well as conceding the 4th most chances from set pieces in the PL this season (28).
All stats are taken from FFHub, Understat and FFscout.
